AR House Live

Join us virtually on Monday 27 January at 2pm GMT to learn about the winning project of the AR House awards 2024, designed by Manuel Cervantes Estudio in Mexico.

Manuel Cervantes will be presenting his office’s post-hurricane houses project live, followed by a Q&A chaired by The Architectural Review’s editors.

Designed for Acapulco residents who were displaced in 2023 by Hurricane Otis, the houses feature flexible plans designed for future extension through a system of prefabricated panels. More than 40 have been constructed so far, with many more yet to complete.

Two of the awards’ judges will also take part in the discussion. Stella Daouti praised the houses’ ‘straightforward yet playful strategy’ and will join from Athens; and Mike Tonkin, who described the work as ‘a sophisticated and affordable solution for hurricane-proof housing that melds into the urban fabric’, will join from London.

The conversation will last one hour and is free to attend – join us and put your questions forward by registering below.
